Churches go hi-tech with instant communications

Living Word Community Church needed to update communications for its parking, guest services, children’s ministry, and security teams. The security team also wanted an up-to-date emergency communications system for the church’s classrooms. Red Dog Radios planned out a flexible system with programmable radios where each team—parking, guest services, education, and operations—has its own private communications channels and radios can be instantly deployed to teams as needed.

The system also provides classroom communications with emergency features. In an emergency situation a teacher can initiate a silent alarm and a surveillance feature allows the security team to silently monitor a classroom. Selective calling allows anyone to contact a specific person or group without disturbing others and caller ID identifies the specific classroom calling.

Fellowship Bible Church wanted to replace their cell phone communications with a radio system that could provide more instant communications. The church tried family radios, but with a 64-acre site and buildings with concrete walls, the radios failed to work throughout their facility.

Red Dog Radios assisted with providing licensed, dedicated UHF channels for the church and designed a radio system that now provides robust communications throughout their campus. The administrator said that he can now even call in on his radio on the way to church from seven miles away!

The system includes a rooftop UHF repeater that ensures clear communications through the entire facility, even through several concrete walls. The system also has a phone patch so that incoming phone calls can be forwarded directly to a radio and the radio user can also make outgoing calls to the telephone network.
